La ciudad de Nueva York celebra el Año Nuevo Chino

El Año Nuevo Chino 2017 (Año del Gallo Rojo del Fuego), empezó el sábado 28 de enero, una de las tradiciones más importantes para esta cultura. Las familias se reúnen, y viajan de todo el mundo para hacerlo, con festividades en las calles, donde el mundo entero puede disfrutar de esta hermosa cultura asiática.
La ciudad de Nueva York no se queda atrás y este domingo 5 de febrero será el tradicional desfile y festival del Año Chino. La celebración número 18 de esta tradición en la Gran Manzana, empezará a las 12pm hasta las 4:30pm (el desfile comienza a la 1pm). El evento se llevará a cbo en el parque Sara D. Roosevelt Park oen el Lower East Side.
No se pierdan la oportunidad de ver dragones, personas disfrazadas de elementos típicos de esta celebración, música y fuegos artificiales.

The Indigenous peoples of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean are not extinct and they never were. “Todavía estamos aquí (we are still here)”: this is the powerful message of the modern Taíno movement and the foundation of “Taíno: Native Heritage and Identity in the Caribbean,” a new exhibition presented by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and the Smithsonian Latino Center. It opens Saturday, July 28, at the museum’s George Gustav Heye Center in New York.
